Berrylicious Skirt Size 0-3 Months

This cute little skirt is easy to make up and comes with the option to add straps and would look great with a little top for summer or a sweater and tights for winter.

Size

0-3 months to fit: 16 Inch waist, length 7” 

Yarn

Approx 230 / 280 / 320 / 380 / 440 / 500 / 580 / 680 / 780 meters of dk / 8ply / weight 3 yarn.

Hook & Other Materials 

US Size G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook I use this set from Amazon*

Yarn needle

2 x 15-20mm buttons

Gauge

9 hdc and 5 rows = 2”/5 cm

Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK 

sc=single crochet (double crochet in UK)

hdc=half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)

ch=chain

slst=slip stitch


Special Stitches

fphdc=front post half double crochet (front post half treble crochet UK) = yo and insert hook into the front post of the hdc below and hdc as usual

bphdc=back post half double crochet (back post half treble UK)= yo and insert hook into the back post of the hdc below and hdc as usual

bs= Bobble Stitch: Yarn over, insert hook into indicated stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, (yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop) x 3, yarn over, pull through all 9 loops on hook. (this is like a puff stitch)

Notes

  1. Similar weight yarns may be substituted; please check the gauge.

  2. Beginning ch1 or ch2 does NOT count as a stitch.

 

Ch68, slst to first to form a circle. 

Round 1: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end, slst to the first stitch. (68)

Round 2-6: ch1, fphdc, bphdc across, slst to the first stitch. (68)

Round 7: ch1, hdc in same, hdc 9, inc, *hdc 10, inc* x 5, hdc 2, slst to first. (74) Turn

Round 8: ch1, sc in the same, bs *sc, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (74) Turn

Round 9-10: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end, slst to the first stitch. (74) Turn after round 10

Round 11: ch1, sc in the same, bs *sc, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (74) Turn

Round 12: ch1, hdc in same, hdc 10, inc, *hdc 11, inc* x 5, hdc 2, slst to first. (80) 

Round 13: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end, slst to the first stitch. (80) Turn

Round 14: ch1, sc in the same, bs *sc, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (80) Turn

Round 15: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end, slst to the first stitch. (80)

Repeat rounds 13-15 once more.

The skirt should now measure 6.5 inches. 

Edging Round: ch1, 3 dc in same, 3 dc in all, slst to first. Fasten off.

Straps

 

Make two

Round 1: Ch7, hdc in third ch from hook, hdc 4. (5) Turn

Round 2: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 4. (5) Turn

Repeat round 2 until the strap measures 13 inches, then continue to the button hole.

Button hole

Round 1: Ch1, sc in the same, sc1, ch1, skip 1, sc 2

Round 2: Sc in the same, sc 1, 2 sc in ch1, sc 2. Fasten off.

Sew the straps at the back, cross over and sew buttons at the front to fasten.
