Approx 240 g dk/8ply/light worsted acrylic yarn
3.5 & 4 mm hooks I use this set from Amazon*
6-7 x 15 mm buttons
Gauge Square
With 4mm hook
Row1 Ch10, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across. (8) Turn
Row2-4 ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc 7. (8) Turn
Square should measure just over 4.5cm.
If you're out with a 4mm hook try 4.5mm hook.
If you have problems hitting the length but the width is ok, try dc instead of hdc.

Hood
With 4mm hook
Row1 Join yarn at top opposite where starting chain was, ch1 hdc in base of ch1 and next 58, turn. (59)
Row 2 ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc all. (59) Turn
Repeat row 2 until the hood measures 7.5 inches.
Fold hood in half and slst together from the inside.
Bear Ears
Using 3.5mm hook
Row1 Ch3, 7 dc in first ch. (8) Turn
Row2 Ch1, 2 dc in base of ch1, 2 dc in each stitch. (16) Turn
Row3 Ch1, hdc in base of ch1, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next* repeat to end (24)
Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.
Button/Buttonhole Bands
With 3.5mm hook
Row1 Starting at left side bottom with ws facing join yarn ch1, hdc up left side, hdc round the hood, and hdc down right side.
Row2 ch1, *fphdc, bphdc* repeat to end.
Fasten off make sure your buttons fit through the fphdc, then sew your buttons evenly down the right side and sew in all the ends.
