Bobbi Headband Free Crochet Pattern

Matches the Bobbi Skirt and Dress

This headband is very simple to make, it is crochet in a rectangle then folded in half and sewn from the inside.

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

dc=double crochet (treble crochet UK)

bs=Bobble stitch- (yarn over pull up a loop yarn over pull through 2 stitches), four times, you should have 5 stitches on hook yarn over and pull through all 5.

ch=chain

slst=slip stitch

Materials

Small amount of dk / 8ply / light worsted acrylic yarn

4 mm hook I use this set from Amazon*

Needle 

Scissors 

 

Gauge

With 4mm hook

Row 1: Ch12, dc in 4th ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn

Rows 2-4: ch1, dc 9. (9) Turn

Square should measure 5 x 5cm.

If you're out with a 4mm hook try a larger hook.


These are the approximate measurements the finished headband should be.

Preemie 11”

Newborn 12” 

0-3 Months 13” 

3-6 Months 15” 

6-12 Months 16 

1-2 Years 17 


Preemie ch52 (49 stitches on each row)

Newborn ch55 (52 stitches on each row) 

0-3 Months ch58 (55 stitches on each row) 

3-6 Months ch64 (61 stitches on each row)

6-12 Months ch67 (64 stitches on each row)

1-2 Years ch70 (67 stitches on each row) 

Using a 4mm hook

Row 1: Chain the required amount of stitches for the size you want, dc in the forth chain from the hook and each stitch across. Turn

Row 2: ch1, dc all.  Turn

Row 3: ch1, sc in same, sc 2, bs, *sc 2, bs* repeat to last 3 and sc each. 

Rows 4-5:  ch1, dc all.  Turn

Fasten off with a long end for sewing.


Fold in half at each side, place together as shown in the 4th picture, sew just the centre, with 4 or 5 stitches. Then flatten and sew the opposite direction as shown in the 8th picture. Turn back the right way.
