Baby Boxer Set
Free Crochet Pattern
I wrote this pattern a few years ago and never released it, so thought I would share!
This set is great for baby photo shoots! It comes with the instructions to make the shorts and boxing gloves.
Sizes
preemie / newborn / 0-3 months / 3-6 months / 6-12 months
Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK
sc = single crochet (double crochet in UK)
hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)
dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)
ch = chain
inc =increase
dec = decrease
slst = slip stitch
fpdc = front post double crochet (front post treble crochet UK)
bpdc = back post double crochet (back post treble crochet UK)
fphdc = front post half double crochet (front post half treble crochet UK)

Materials
4mm hook I use this set from Amazon*
150-260 metres of dk / weight 3 yarn for each set (depending on size)
Gauge Square
With 4mm hook
Row 1: Ch11, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn
Row 2-5: ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc 8. (9) Turn
Square should measure 2” x 2”
Shorts
Starting with main colour
Ch 64 / 68 / 72 / 78 / 82, slst to first
Round 1: Ch2, dc in the same, dc next 63 / 67 / 71 / 77 / 81, slst to first. (64 / 68 / 72 / 78 / 82)
Round 2: ch1, *fpdc, bhdc* repeat around, slst to first. (64 / 68 / 72 / 78 / 82)
Change to white
Round 3: Ch2, dc in same, dc in each stitch, slst to first. (64 / 68 / 72 / 78 / 82)
Change to main colour
Round 4: ch2, dc all, slst to first. (64 / 68 / 72 / 78 / 82)
Round 5: ch1, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat around, slst to first. (64 / 68 / 72 / 78 / 82)
Round 6: ch2, hdc in the same, *hdc 7, 2 hdc in the next* x 8, hdc to the end, slst to first. (72 / 76 / 80 / 86 / 90)
Round 7: ch2, dc all, slst to first. (72 / 76 / 80 / 86 / 90)
Repeat round 7 until work measures 4.5” / 5” / 5.5” / 6” / 7”
Dividing legs
Round 1: Ch2, hdc 34 / 36 / 38 / 42 / 44, slst to first, leaving the rest unworked.
Repeat round 1 for 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 rounds
Fasten off.
Skip 2 stitches, join yarn and repeat for the second leg.
Fasten off and sew the gap between the legs.
Side stripes
Make two
Ch 26 / 30 / 36 / 42 / 48, hdc in the third chain from hook, hdc 23 / 27 / 33 / 39 / 45. (24 / 28 / 34 / 40 / 46)
Fasten off with a long end and sew from the white stripe on the wasit band to the bottom of the leg at each side of the shorts. (it will be best to pin in place first)
Tie
Chain 135 / 139 / 143 / 149 / 153
Fasten off and thread through round 3 of the waist band.

The boxing gloves come in 3 sizes written separately. They are partly stuffed then I placed a crochet circle over the stuffing and pushed down firmly to avoid stuffing going on babies hands.

using white yarn sew crosses starting from the top on the 5th row down
leave a long end at each side to tie in a bow
add stuffing about a third of the way, then place the inner disc over top of the stuffing and push down firmly
sew a thumb on each glove one on the left side, one on the right side
