Christmas Bottle Cover
This pattern works up quickly to make a lovely bottle bag for gift giving!
Materials
100 metres of red and 100 metres of green Dk / weight 3 yarn using 2 strands held together
5.5mm crochet hook
small pom pom maker
Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK
sc = single crochet (double crochet UK)
hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)
dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)
ch = chain
slst = slip stitch
blo = back loops only (crochet in the back loop of the stitch)
* * = repeat between
[ ] = in the same stitch
Starting with red
Round 1: make a magic circle, ch2, 11 dc into the circle, pull tight, slst to first. (11)
Round 2: ch2, [2 dc] in each stitch. (22)
Round 3: ch2, hdc 2, *hdc 1, [2 hdc] in the next* x 10. (32) Turn
Round 4: (in flo) ch1, *sc 1, dc 1* repeat to end. (32) Turn
change to green, then alternate colours each round
Round 5-22: ch1, *sc 1, dc 1* repeat to end. (32) Turn changing colour each round
change to green
Round 20: ch2, dc all. (32)
The next part is to make the ribbed top
Row 1: ch7, sc in second ch from hook, sc 5, slst 2 stitches of the bottom edge. (6) Turn
Row 2: (in blo) ch1, sc all. (6) Turn
Row 3: (in blo) ch1, sc 6, slst 2 stitches of the bottom edge. (6) Turn
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach the other side and sew the seam.
Tie
ch85 with red
Weave the tie through row 20 (over two stitches and under two stitches, all around) and make two mini pom poms to sew on each end.
