slst=slip stitch

corner=2 dc, ch2, 2 dc (2 treble crochet, ch 2, 2 treble crochet UK)

cluster=yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

*ch3 counts as a dc*

Each square will measure approximately 4.5 x 4.5 inches

Square

Starting with yellow

Round 1: ch4, slst to first to form a loop, ch2, hdc 11 into the loop, slst to the top of ch2. (12) 

Change to white (join yarn in any stitch)

Round 2: ch1, cluster in the same, *ch2, cluster* repeat x 10, ch2, slst to first. (12 clusters)

Change to colour (join yarn in any ch2 space)

Round 3: ch3, dc in same, ch 2, 2 dc, 3 dc in each of the next two spaces, *corner, 3 dc in each of the next two spaces* repeat twice more, slst to the 3rd ch. (40)

Round 4: slst into corner, ch3, dc in the same, ch2, 2 dc, (*fpdc, dc* x 5, corner) repeat twice more, slst to the 3rd ch. (56)
