Daisy Blanket

This cute daisy blanket can be made with the following materials or any yarn and colours that you like. It can also be made with more squares if you want it larger.

My squares are 5” if using the same materials and amount of squares the blanket measures approx 31” x 36” before the edging and approx 33” x 38” after the edging.

Materials

Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Aran 50% wool / 50% acrylic (180 metres per 100g)

Mustard Yellow for the daisy centre x 1 ball

Paper white for the Petals x 1 ball

Champagne White x 1 ball

Paintbox Yarns Ombre Aran Wool Touch 75% acryril / 25% wool (190 metres per 100g)

Sandy Beach x 1 ball

Amethyst Moon x 1 ball

Stormy Sky x 1 ball

Pink Dessert x 1 ball

5.5mm crochet hook

Scissors

Needle

WRITTEN IN ENGLISH US CROCHET TERMS WITH ABBREVIATIONS FOR UK 

sc = single crochet (double crochet UK)

dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)

ch = chain

slst = slip stitch

** = repeat between

[ ] = in the same stitch

NOTES

  • The ch3 at the beginning counts as the first dc.

SQUARES

Make 42 squares

I made

11 in pink dessert

11 in sandy beach

10 in Amethyst Moon

10 in stormy sky

Short VIDEO of square

Starting with mustard yellow

Round 1: make a magic circle, ch3, dc 11 into the circle, slst to the first. (12) Fasten off.

Join white between any stitch

Round 2: ch3, dc in the same, [2 dc] between each stitch, slst to the first. (24) Fasten off.

Join colour between any 2 dc

Round 3: ch3, 2 dc in the same, [3 dc] between each 2 dc, slst to the first, slst to between clusters. (36)

Round 4: [ch3, dc, ch2, 2 dc], sc 9, *[2 dc, ch2, 2 dc], sc 9* repeat twice more, slst to the first, slst to the ch2 corner. (52)

Round 5: [ch3, dc, ch2, 2 dc], dc 13, *[2 dc, ch2, 2 dc], dc 13* repeat twice more, slst to the first. (68)

Fasten off.

JOINING

I used the zigzag slst using champagne white, the same as this VIDEO. I joined the squares 6 wide x 7 long.

Once you have all the squares joined, you can add any edging you want. I did the following edging.

EDGING

Join champagne white in any corner

Row 1: [ch1, sc, ch2, sc] in the corner, sc across all squares, *[sc, ch2, sc] in the corner, sc across all squares* repeat to the end, slst to the first, slst to the ch2 corner.

Row 2: [ch1, sc, ch3, sc] in the corner, *skip 1, [sc, ch3, sc]* repeat to end, making [sc, ch3, sc] in each corner.

Row 3: ch1, [sc, ch3, sc] in each ch3 space, slst to the first.
