MONSOON RAINBOW WALL HANGING

This classy rainbow wall hanging can be made in so many different colourways and is perfect for using up your scrap yarn.

Materials 

Small amounts of dk, weight 3 yarn 

4mm hook I use this set from Amazon*

Or you can use any yarn and hook you choose but the size of the rainbow will change.

Written in US terms with abbreviations for UK

sc=single crochet (double crochet UK)

hdc=half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)

blo=back loop only

Make two

Ch16

Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook and each chain to end. (15) Turn

Row 2: Ch1, sc 14, [3 sc] in the last, turn to work along the other side, skip the first, sc 14. (31)

Change colour after each row and join new yarn at the same side each time

Row 3: (in blo) Ch1, hdc 12, [2 hdc] in the next two, hdc 3, [2 hdc] in the next two, hdc 12. (35)

Row 4: (in blo) Ch1, hdc 12, [2 hdc] in the next three, hdc 5, [2 hdc] in the next three, hdc 12. (41)

Row 5: (in blo) Ch1, hdc 15, [2 hdc] in the next three, hdc 5, [2 hdc] in the next three, hdc 15. (47)

Row 6: (in blo) Ch1, hdc 18, [2 hdc] in the next three, hdc 5, [2 hdc] in the next three, hdc 18. (53)

Fasten off.

Join another colour yarn and sc around both rainbows to join together (sc through the loops of both rainbows), sc across the bottom doing 3 sc per 2 rows.

Fasten off.

Join in another colour to do a picot edging around the rainbow 

Sc 2 *ch2, sc in the 2 front loop of the sc below, sc 2* repeat around, leaving the bottom of the rainbow unworked.

Cut 7, 20 inch strands of yarn to make each tassel. Place the first tassel in the center, then place one at each edge then one in between the center and the edge.

If you want to make a hanger for your rainbow, join yarn in the center of the rainbow, ch7, slst to first and fasten off.
