These Panda appliques are suitable for baby clothing or blankets.

Materials

Small amounts of Dk / weight 3 yarn in white, black, green and pink

3mm crochet hook I use this set from Amazon*

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

sc = single crochet (double crochet in UK)

hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)

dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)

ch = chain

slst = slip stitch

* * = repeat between

inc = increase (crochet 2 stitches into the same stitch)

dec = decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)

Mummy/Daddy Panda

Measures 5.5 inches tall

Head 

With white

Made working in spiral rounds, do not turn do not join

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic circle. (6)

Round 2: *inc* x 6. (12)

Round 3: *sc 1, inc* x 6. (18)

Round 4: *sc 2, inc* x 6. (24)

Round 5: *sc 3, inc* x 6. (30)

Round 6: *sc 4, inc* x 6. (36)

Round 7: sc all. (36) 

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Ears

Using black

Make two

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic circle. (6) Turn

Round 2: ch3, sc in same, *ch2, sc in next* repeat to end. 

Ch1, sc back up to the start across the straight edge to finish off.

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Eyes

Using black

Make two

Ch3, 3 sc in second ch from hook, 6 sc in the last ch and slst to the beginning.

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Body

Starting with black.

Ch11

Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and next 9. (10) Turn

Change to white

Row 2-3: ch1, sc in same, sc 9. (10) Turn

Row 4: ch1, 2 sc in same and next 8, 2 sc in last. (12) Turn

Row 5-8: ch1, sc in same and next 11. (12) Turn

Row 9: ch1, dec, sc 8, dec. (10) Fasten off

Join in black yarn where you fastened off 

Row10-12 ch1, sc in same, sc 3. (4) Turn

Cut yarn after finishing row 12 and fasten off.

For the second leg skip 2 sc from the first leg and join in yarn to repeat rows 10-12.

Cut yarn after finishing the second leg and fasten off.

Arms

Make two

Using black

Ch5, sc in second ch from hook, sc 2, sc 6 in last ch, sc 3 down the other side off the chain.

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Bamboo

Ch15 fasten off, join yarn sixth chain from end and ch3, fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Bow 

Ch4 with colour you want bow

3 dc in last ch from hook, ch3, slst to end, ch3, 3 dc, ch3, slst to end.

Fasten off leaving a long end and wrap yarn around the middle a few times ready to sew in place.

Baby Panda

Measures 4 inches tall

Fasten off

Join in black yarn where you fastened off 

Row 7-8: ch1, sc in same, sc 2. (3) Turn

Cut yarn after finishing row 9 and fasten off.

For the second leg skip 2sc from the first leg and join in yarn to repeat rows 7-8.

Cut yarn after finishing the second leg and fasten off.

Arms

Using black

Make two

Ch4, sc in second ch from hook, sc 1, sc 4 in last ch, sc 2 down the other side off the chain.

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Bamboo

Using green

Ch10 fasten off, join yarn 4th chain from end and ch3.

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew in place.

Bow 

Ch3 in colour you want bow

2 hdc in last ch from hook, ch2, slst to end, ch2, 2 hdc, ch2, slst to end. Fasten off leaving a long end and wrap yarn around the middle a few times then sew in place.

Assembly 

Before assembly sew in some of the ends that are not needed to sew together (this makes it a little easier because there are so many)

Sew ears in place.

Sew eyes in place then add a white dot with white yarn. Sew nose and mouth with black yarn.

Pin head in position and sew in place. Sew arms in place.

Sew bamboo in place. If adding bow sew in place.
