Needle

Scissors

Gauge Square

With 4mm hook

Row1 Ch10, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across. (8) Turn

Row2-4 ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc 7. (8) Turn

Square should measure just over 4.5cm.

If you're out with a 4mm hook try 4.5mm hook.

If you have problems hitting the length but the width is ok, try dc instead of hdc.

Using a 4mm hook

Row1 Chain 60, sc in the second chain from hook and each stitch across. (59) Turn

Row2 (in flo) ch1, sc in same and each stitch across. Turn

Row3 ch1, *ps, sk1, ps* repeat across. Turn

Row4 ch1, sc in base  of ch1, sc across. Turn

Row5 (in blo) ch1, sc in base of ch1, sc across. Turn

Row6 ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc to end. Turn

Repeat row 6 until work measures 7 inches.

Fasten off with a long end for sewing.

Fold the rectangle in half and sew down the side opposite the puff stitches.

Join yarn to the left front and reverse sc (crab stitch) to the other side.

Making ties

Ch 46, sc in second chain from hook and each chain back up to bonnet, sc across the back of the bonnet to the other side and repeat the same chains, sc in second chain from hook and each chain back up to the bonnet and slst to the first.

Fasten off and sew in all the ends.

If you want to make plaited ties skip the chains above and continue to sc across the bottom of the bonnet, fasten off, cut 6 strands of yarn just more than twice the size you want the ties. Pull the 6 strands through the bonnet and separate into 3 lots of 4 and plait, tie and trim yarn. Repeat for the other side.

Finished Bonnet should measure Depth 7” Height 7.25”

That's it completed. I hope you enjoyed making my pattern!
