Preemie Bear Hoodie
This cute little bear jacket is made from the yoke down then joining the yarn to make the hood and sleeves, it works up lovely and cosy.
Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK terms
sc=single crochet (double crochet in UK)
hdc=half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)
dc=double crochet (treble crochet UK)
fphdc=front post half double crochet (front post half treble crochet UK)
bphdc=back post half double crochet (back post half treble crochet UK)
ch=chain
slst=slip stitch
Materials
120g dk/8ply/light worsted acrylic / weight 3 yarn
4mm hook
4 x 15mm buttons
Gauge Square
With 4mm hook
Row 1: Ch11, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn
Row 2-5: ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc 8. (9) Turn
Square should measure 2 inch x 2 inch
If you're out with a 4mm hook try a 4.5mm hook.
If you have problems hitting the length but the width is ok, try dc instead of hdc.

Hood
Row 1: join yarn at top and ch1, hdc in the same and next 37. (38) Turn
Row 2: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end. (38) Turn
Repeat row 2 until the hood measures 5 inches. Fasten off.
Fold hood in half and slst together from the inside.
Edging
Row 1: With right side facing, join yarn to the bottom right hand side of the front edge, ch1, 1 hdc in base of ch1, work hdc evenly up to the top, around the hood and back down to the other side. Turn
For row 2, mark out where you want the button holes, ch2 where the markers are and continue with the fpdc, bpdc. (Not skipping any stitches)
Row 2: Buttonhole row, ch1, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat around and where the markers are ch2 to create the button holes. Turn
Row 3: ch1, *fpdc, bpdc* repeat around, doing 2 sc in the ch2 space for the buttonhole.
Fasten off and sew your buttons on to match the button holes and weave in all ends.
Bear Ears
Row 1: 13 dc in a magic circle, slst to first. (13)
Row 2: Ch1, dc in base of ch1, 1 dc in each stitch, slst to first. (13)
Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.
Sleeves
Row 1: join yarn to the first unworked stitch under the arm, ch1, 1 hdc in the same, 1 hdc in each of the next 22, slst to the first. (23) Turn
Row 2-7: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end, slst to the first. (23) Turn
Row 8: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 20, dec, slst to the first. (22) Turn
Row 9: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to end, slst to the first. (22) Turn
Repeat row 9 until the sleeve measures 6 inches from the shoulder.
Cuffs
Row 1-2: ch1, fphdc in same, bphdc, *fphdc, bphdc* repeat to end. (22)
Fasten off and repeat for the other sleeve.
