Puff stitch Preemie Cardigan
This puff stitch cardigan is with a simple single crochet (double crochet UK) yoke with a puff stitch body and is crochet all in one with only the ends to sew in.

Materials
60 / 80 / 120g dk / 8ply / light worsted acrylic yarn
4 and 4.5 mm hook
4-5 x 10mm buttons

sc=single crochet (which is double crochet in UK terms)
ch=chain
inc=increase (crochet two stitches in the same stitch)
dec=decrease (crochet two stitches together)

Ps-puff stitch yarn over pull up a loop four times yarn over pull through all 9 stitches on hook and ch1 to finish the stitch.
Gauge Square
With 4mm hook
Row 1: Ch10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn
Row 2-8: ch1, sc in base of ch1, sc 8. (9) Turn
Square should measure 2 inches x 2 inches
If you're out with a 4mm hook try a 4.5mm hook.

Row 1: Join the main colour to bottom right side with rs facing, ch1 and sc on top of each puff stitch and in each ch1 across. Turn
Row 2: ch1, sc in the same, sc across. Turn
Row 3: ch1, sc in the same, sc across. Continue to the button band
Button band
Row 1: ch1, 1 sc in the same, sc evenly to the top. Turn
Row 2: ch1, sc in the same and each st across. Turn
Row 3: ch1, sc in the same and each st across.
Fasten off.
Buttonhole band
Row 1: With RS facing, join the main colour to the top of the other side, ch1, 1 sc in the same, sc evenly to the bottom. Turn.
Mark out where you want the button holes with stitch markers or scrap yarn.
Row 2: ch1, sc in the same, sc across but ch1 and skip where the markers are to create a button hole. Turn
Row 3: ch1, sc in the same and sc in all including chains.
Fasten off and sew your buttons on to match the button holes and weave in all ends.
