Rainbow Appliques

These rainbow appliques come in three sizes and are suitable for baby clothing or blankets.

The rainbows are worked in rows and started at the same side for each colour.

Materials

Small amounts of Dk / weight 3 yarn

3mm crochet hook I use this set from Amazon*

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

sc = single crochet (double crochet in UK)

ch = chain

* * = repeat between

inc = increase (2 sc in the same stitch)

ch = chain

Small Rainbow

Chain 10 with blue

Row 1: 2 sc in the second chain from hook, sc 3, 2 sc in the next, sc 3, 2 sc in the last. (12)

Change to green

Row 3: ch1, sc in the same, sc 2, 2 sc in the next, sc 4, 2 sc in the next, sc 3. (14)

Change to yellow

Row 4: ch1, 2 sc in the same, sc 3, 2 sc in the next, sc 1, 2 sc in the next twice, sc 1, 2 sc in the next, sc 3, 2 sc in last. (20)

Change to red

Row 5: ch1, sc in the same, sc all. (20) Fasten off.

Cloud

Make two

Row 1: 8 sc in a magic circle. (8)

Row 2: *3 dc in the same, slst to the next* x 4. Fasten off.

Medium Rainbow

Chain 14 with purple

Row 1: sc in second ch from hook, sc 12. (13)

Change to blue

Row 2: ch1, 2 sc in the same, sc 4, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 4, 2 sc in the last. (17)

Change to green

Row 3: ch1, sc in the same, sc 3, inc, sc 7, inc, sc 4. (19)

Change to yellow

Row 4: ch1, 2 sc in the same, sc 4, inc, sc 7, inc, sc 4, 2 sc in last. (23)

Change to red

Row 5: ch1, 2 sc in the same, sc 8, inc, sc 2, inc, sc 8, 2 sc in the last. (27)

Row 1: 5 sc in a magic circle. (5)

Row 2: 2 sc in each stitch. (10)

Row 3: *3 dc in the same, slst to the next* x 5. Fasten off.
