Suzette Leg Warmers

These cosy leg warmers are made using the Suzette stitch, the pattern comes in sizes baby to extra large ladies.

Materials

Aran/ weight 4 yarn

I used Women's Institute Pink Soft and Smooth Tweed Aran Yarn 600 metres per 400g 97% Acrylic, 3% Viscose

Crochet hooks G/4 mm and H/5 mm

Measuring tape

Yarn needle

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

sc = single crochet (double crochet UK)

dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)

hsc = herringbone single crochet (herringbone single crochet UK) insert hook into the left vertical strand of previous stitch, then insert hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over pull through all 3 loops on hook

ch = chain

slst = slip stitch

blo = back loops only (crochet into the back loops of the stitch)

Gauge

With a 5mm crochet hook

Row 1: ch16, [sc, dc] in second chain from hook, *skip 1, [sc, dc] in next* x 7. (16)

Row 2-12: ch1, *skip 1, [sc, dc] in next* repeat to end. (16)

Square should measure 4” x 4”

Pattern notes:

The ch1 does not count as a stitch
It’s best to measure the widest part of your calf and make the size nearest.

Using a 4mm crochet hook

Row 1: ch7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hsc 5. (6) Turn

Repeat row 2 until you have worked 16 rows for (0-6 month) / 20 rows for (6-12 months) / 24 rows for (1-2 years) / 30 rows for (3-8 years). Slst the first and last row together. Then continue to your size.
