This cardigan is worked in one piece starting from the top and working down with a simple single crochet (double crochet UK) for the yoke, then a v stitch for the body. Then joining to make the sleeves and edging.

Button band
Row1 With RS facing, join yarn to the base of the left hand side of the front edge rs facing, ch1, 1 sc in base of ch1, sc evenly to the neck edge. Turn.
Row2 ch1, sc in base of ch1, sc back down to the bottom. Turn.
Row3 ch1, sc in base of ch1 and each back to the neck.
Fasten off.
Buttonhole band
Row1 with RS facing join yarn, ch1, sc in base of ch1 work 32 sc evenly. Turn
Mark out where you want the button holes with stitch markers or scrap yarn.
Row2 ch1 sc in base of ch1 and each st across, ch1, sk1 where the markers are to create a button hole. Turn
Row3 ch1, sc in base of ch1 and each st across including ch1s.
Fasten off and sew your buttons on to match the button holes and weave in all ends.
